Today the European leg of the "An evening with Eels" tour ends. E and The Chet are giving a
final concert in Paris. The tour has been fantastic, one of the most outstanding in Eels history.
In only 3 days it continues with several dates in the US, starting
with a gig in Philadelphia.
The documentary about E and his father, quantum physicist Hugh Everett III, won the award for a documentary in science
and natural history at the "RTS PROGRAMME AWARDS", which were presented last night at the
Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
"Weaving together an emotional odyssey with an exploration of some of the most challenging front-line science was an audacious idea, but this film pulled it off magnificently."
Download now the wonderful bootleg of the Eels' recent concert at Royal Festival Hall in London.
One can find it in our DOWNLOADS section. Thanks very much to Andy.
E has always denied ongoing requests to use EELS songs in commercials: "I absolutely refuse to
license my music for commercial television, but I'm okay with authorizing use of my songs for
public service announcements and motion picture soundtracks."
However, from time to time Eels songs are used for advertisements without E's permission. Just
think of the incident in 2001 when a Spanish shopping center used "I like birds" in a horrific
manner. (Read all about it HERE)
These days another shockingly bad commercial, using "Souljacker Part I", is being aired all the time in the U.K.

On TIMES ONLINE
one can find a very exciting article about E's upcoming autobiography. We learn
that the rumour of E's divorce in 2005 was actually true, that he was hugely influenced by
hearing Portishead on the radio, that he has finished a new album and is working on another, and much more.
Furthermore, an EXCERPT
of "Things The Grandchildren Should Know" is featured. It proves that the book is definitely something
to look forward to.
Everybody living outside the United Kingdom probably looks at the latest Eels news with great
envy. To celebrate the release of E's autobiography a very special appearance at St.James Church
in London on January 17th has been announced. Look HERE
for details. Each attendee will receive a copy of the book. Even better, the first 200 people in line will get
the chance to have their book signed by the author.
January 2008 is one of the busiest months in years for Eels fans. Not only is the band going to release
their highly anticipated best-of and rarities collections, but also will we get the chance to read
E's autobiography and watch him perform on TV. Here's a quick overview:
The Eels fansite community is astonished. Our friends over at
EELS.NL
have finally relaunched their amazing website. They are "trying to get a complete list
of all known EELS performances and completing the lists with with setlists, reviews and pictures."
Furthermore the site features detailed information regarding E's solo work and really interesting
interviews. Certainly one of the best. Please note that the site is by far not yet completed
and that they will be updating constantly over the next couple of weeks and months.
Good news coming in. Apparently, favourite (ex-)bandmember Butch Norton will be joining the
Eels on one of their (soon to be officially announced) L.A. shows on their "An Evening with Eels"
tour next spring.
Butch:"I will, most likely, "drop in" on ONE show in los angeles (to be determined by his "e"ness).
i'm starting to record with lucinda so i will definetely not be touring with the eels."
The Rocking Eels team wishes merry christmas to all fellow Eels fans and their families.
On the coming days please don't waste a second of your precious time thinking and caring about your job, school,
university or Eels even. Have a nice time with your loved ones.
We hope "everything's gonna be cool this christmas" for you.

Eels have added 4 dates to their tour itinerary. Fans living in Oxford, Cambridge, Sheffield, York and (for a second time)
Paris will get the chance to have "an intimate, very special evening with eels on a very distinctive tour", as
E put it today talking with Berlin's radio station "Radio 1 Live". All the tour dates so far

On Valentine's Day 2008 all the boyfriends will have the chance to pick some daisies from the flower bed
of the galaxy theater for their loved ones and then enjoy an evening with Eels.
The official site has now confirmed the rumour of Eels performing a warm-up gig at the Galaxy Theater on Valentine's
Day, February 14th. Check all the dates plus exact locations on a Google Map HERE.
"Who's the man?", you say? Mark Edwards from "The Sunday Times" is. He wrote an incredible text
about the Eels' upcoming best-of and rarities collections, to be found on the OFFICIAL EELS PAGE.
This might be one of the finest attempts to analyze and sum up Eels music. Furthermore, enjoy
preview samplers of both "Meet The Eels" and "Useless Trinkets" on the same page.
To shorten your waiting time to the start of the "An evening with Eels" tour
we've come up with another download section of superb Eels song material. From now on
we will feature a download of a collection of all songs from every single Eels tour in the past
every second week. Today we are starting with, obviously, the "Beautiful Freak Tour Collection" from 1996/1997.

More news about E's upcoming appearance on "From The Basement" is coming in. The official
FROM THE BASEMENT
site reports that they left their "London base for a trip to Bob Clearmountain's Berkeley
Street Studio in Los Angeles for the finale of the first series of From The Basement [...]
E from The Eels decides to perform a host of incredible new songs."
Furthermore, the site features a clip of E playing "It's A Motherfucker" on the show. This is certainly
something to look forward to.
The TV channel Sky Arts is broadcasting the show "From The Basement",
which features live sessions by a variety of artists.
It’s been recorded in high-definition at Maida Vale studios in London with live sound by renowned
record producer Nigel Godrich. From The Basement has no host and no studio audience,
instead the artist and their performance take centre stage.
On January 5th E will be on the show
(NME,
TLOBF,
FTB.tv).
We've added another song to our EELS IN MOVIES section.
The Shrek christmas special SHREK THE HALLS,
which first aired yesterday, features the Eels pearl "The stars shine in the sky tonight".
For all who haven't been able to watch the premiere of "Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives" last night the

E talked with billboard.com about the two box sets which are going to hit record stores
in January. More of importance, he revealed exciting news regarding upcoming Eels albums:

It's not important whether the upcoming documentary will be called "The rock star and the quantum mechanic",
"Parallel Universes, Parallel Lives" or indeed "Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives". The one thing
we can be sure of is that it is going to be very interesting for all Eels (and non-Eels) fans.
Need one more prove? Listen to E's interview with BBC Radio 2
HERE.
The december issue of Word magazine features an article about the upcoming documentary
about E and his father, quantum physicist Hugh Everett III. According to them the film will

For most of the shows of the "AN EVENING WITH EELS"
Tour the ticket sale has started today. To this date not much is known on how the concerts will
be regarding line-up and setlists and so on. We can assume that this tour will have rather
laid-back shows as most of the venues are seated. But who knows? The Eels have managed to
surprise us more than once in the past.
(Click HERE to check out Eels' tour venues on Google Maps)
YEAH! Our prayers have been heard and answered. As we've already suggested in our news
post a month ago, Eels are going to tour in 2008. The official site has confirmed loads of
European DATES.
Feel free to jump for joy as we do at our Rocking Eels headquarters here in Vienna.
Good news coming in for Eels fans around the globe: Firstly, the great GALAXY
has been redesigned and restructured. If you are looking for a very extensive database of Eels music that's
the place to be for you. Stunning! As we've heard, additional features, like user interactivity,
will be added soon.
You may be wondering why our friends over at BTC/Jeannie's Diary are not accessible at the moment.
Webmaster Mike has told us that "the entire database was wiped out, either by nefarious means
or simply by my webhost's carelessness when they were upgrading their servers. [...] The board's information is
GONE, so it looks like we'll be starting from scratch again." Although these are quite dissapointing
news we can tell you that this awesome place of fan gathering will be back soon.
Disappointing news coming in. The publisher of the once-planned audio-book of E's upcoming book
"Things The Grandchildren Should Know" (Little Brown Book Group) has informed us that the
release of said audio version has been postponed to January 2009. "There is a slight chance
that it may come forward but it doesn't seem likely. We are keen for E to read it but he's not.
He has suggested a couple of high profile names but nothing has happened on that front yet.
We feel it does need someone high-profile and if these issues can't be resolved we may abandon
it altogether."
This is disappointing because something very special might have come out of that. The release date
of the book itself is still in January, as far as we know. Check back for more news or wait
for announcements from the official Eels site.

Last Sunday E joined Lucinda Williams, Butch and The Chet on stage at the El Rey theater in L.A. Together they
performed Lucinda's "Fancy Funeral" as well as "Railroad Man" and "Sixteen Tons". Reactions from
fans are, as expected, very positive:
We also found a PHOTO OF E from the show. If you have any material (photos, videos, bootlegs, reports) from
this very special evening, please contact us.
The time has come again. Our friends over at BEHIND THE CHURCH are holding their

As the publisher of E's upcoming memoires (Little Brown Book Group) tell us, the audio book will indeed
be published in March 2008. However, AMAZON
still lists the item as January 2008 release. Better we wait for announcements from the guys at the official site.
Further details of the audio book: 5 CD set, reader yet to be confirmed.
They first met during the Eels' "No Strings Attached Tour", had some lovely chats on "In the Attic", performed together on a phenomenal concert in L.A. in November '06,
and now E even writes the liner notes on their latest DVD. Yes, one might say they've become something like friends. E and The Who. As the official Eels site reports,
E wrote some lines for the new "The Who" tour documentary film (fan club) DVD "Fragments" (COVER, VIDEO SNEAK PREVIEWS).
Read E's words HERE.
