Early reports of yesterday’s session at the Hotel Cafe indicate that this was something you usually don’t want to miss. Rachel’s first comment on her blog: “The gig tonight was fucking amazing. I opened, and then Mikey, Simon, Minnie Driver, Pete, E from EELS, Billy Corgan and then me. Every guest was overwhelmingly brilliant.”.

Tonight’s the night, as E will join Pete Townshend, Rachel Fuller and Billy Corgan for a live performance at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. Rachel mentions on her blog: “I also had a hug with our eccentric neighbour from the neighbouring farm, E from EELS, who is also excited about playing with us tomorrow. [...] We have a really busy day today. E is coming over to practise this morning, and then we’re going to see Billy Corgan this afternoon at his studio.”
If you’re going to attend the show tonight, feel free to send us your thoughts about this gig afterwards via mail.

It’s getting pretty exciting these days in Eelsland. We’ve just been informed that two Eels Instrumental CDs, I EEL PRETTY and I EEL GOOD have surfaced and are floating around on the internet. Once again our friends over at Behind The Church put it best in stating: “Early review shows the CDs to be standard Eels album tracks minus their vocals, allowing the brilliance of E’s arrangements to shine on their own.”

On the Austrian TV channel gotv there’s a show called “hosted by” where bands or singers are invited to be guest VJ’s to put together their own playlist. Last Sunday Mr.E himself was the host. Altough we won’t be able to offer you a video of the show until late 2006 (who knows?), you can get an idea of how cool the show must have been. It has become pretty quiet around our most beloved band. One of the most thrilling tours in the history of the Eels has come to an end (or has it?) and in times like these fans all over our planet are waiting for announcements, which make us be beside ourselves with excitment and joy.

Apparantly, E was jamming with The Who on 25th June in Leeds on Pete Townshend’s and Rachel Fuller’s podcast called “In The Attic”, which is broadcasted each week. The EELS band management has kindly asked me to take down some songs. Mainly, they refuse me to offer any studio material or live material which comes near to a studio recording (e.g. soundboard bootlegs) on this site.
Since the owner of the rights of these tracks is the band, of course, I’m absolutely willing to take those songs and sessions down and just upload normal live material in the future.
We don’t have to be sad or even mad at them though, because the management actually plans to release some of this stuff in the future. See, there’s always a bright side! ;D

Former Eels drummer Jonathan Butch Norton just finished his first solo album called BUTCH BEATS: Original Drum Breaks Vol. 1. It’ll hit stores this summer on Jewjitsu Records. But notice: The tracks are strictly drum grooves, geared mostly towards DJ’s, with the first 2000 copies being pressed on vinyl!

As you know, next week sees the the release of both the DVD and CD of Eels live at Town Hall. The official site now offers a cute video of Dirty Girl.
Also, we get told: “iTunes U.S. has the new EELS with strings LIVE AT TOWN HALL album available for download with three bonus tracks.” It looks like one has to buy the CD, the DVD and finally the album on iTunes just to get all songs played at the Town Hall concert last year.
